Andrew Jordan

Andrew Jordan is undoubtedly one of the British Touring Car Championships up and coming stars, having enjoyed a highly impressive début season in 2008.

In his first season, as team-mate to his father, Mike in the Eurotech run John Guest cars, he immediately set the paddock alight finishing in the points during his first BTCC race weekend. A superb overall podium finish later on in the season at Oulton Park also impressed, especially considering the older BTC-specification car his John Guest team were running. Andrew secured 13th position overall in the 2008 BTCC drivers standings and took three 'Independents' championship podium finishes as part of his stellar first BTCC season.

Like many of his competitors Andrew started racing at a young age, he secured the British Junior Rallycross Championship at the tender age of 14, before being crowned Supercar Rallycross champion in 2007. Andy's first full season of circuit racing was contesting the 2007 Renault Clio Cup Series.

2009 represents a huge challenge for Andrew as he moves from his family run Team Eurotech to Vauxhall's Manufacturer squad, VXRacing. He joins reigning triple BTCC champion Fabrizio Giovanardi and former double champion Matt Neal in a three car team. Amongst his challenges will be adjusting to the newer S2000 specification of his Vauxhall Vectra VXR.

Q&A

What is your earliest racing/motorsport memory?
Helping my dad in the paddock, when he was racing a V6 Eurocar, I was 6. I did anything i could to be involved but I probably just got in the way to be honest.

What's the best thing about being a racing driver?
The fact that you have to work your arse off and be so focused and determind to get what you want. When you do get the results you have worked so hard for, its the best feeling ever.

Favourite BTCC meeting and why?
Thruxton. Because you need big balls to be fast, and you feel so on the edge for the whole lap. And you know if you go off there its going to be a big one so that adds a little bit of extra pressure which I love.

Your favourite film?
Dumb and Dumber

Your favourite food?
Pizza Express, Dough balls for starter, mushroom pizza and side salad for main. Or one of my mum's roast dinners.

Your favourite quote or saying?
You are here for a good time, not a long time

Do you have any race day superstitions?
YES LOTS. Always wear orange boxers on race day. Always put my right glove on first. Always check my watch before I put my goves on. Always do my belts up in the same order. How strange do I sound now!

Your dream vehicle?
Corvette ZR1. Black with black wheels

What do you consider to be your greatest achievement in motorsport & outside of?
Being on the overall BTCC podium at Oulton Park in my first season in the BTCC and only my second season in circuit racing. And winning the Rallycross Supercar Championship in 2007.

Who was your childhood hero?
My Dad.
