The Race Bay is divided up into three bays with each car having two dedicated mechanics. The No 1 mechanic assumes overall responsibility for the running and setting up of the car while the No 2 is responsible for sub assembly rebuilds between races.
Following each test or race each car is fully stripped (a process that takes an average of 9 hours) and the components are sent to the various departments for checking and rebuilding for the next event. The engine
may go back to the tuner depending upon mileage and condition and the gearbox and suspension components are overhauled in Sub Assembly. Cars are fully stripped and re-built after every outing Following each rebuild, the cars are set up on the "flat patch"- a perfectly level, machined floor. On this patch, toes, cambers and corner weights can be set up accurately. This patch, being a very rigid platform, can also be used for torsion testing of components or even the whole shell.

During the rebuild period modifications are carried out from problems that have arisen from previous meetings. These can be anything from a gearbox modification to the change of a decal. |
