In 2003, not content with their domination of the BTCC, Roland Dane, Ian Harrison, Peter Butterly and Derek Warwick decided it was time to take on a new challenge; The Australian V8 Supercar Series. They purchased the then Briggs Motorsport operation, who fielded a pair of Ford Falcons, and began formulating plans for success in the Australian series.

Recognising the sheer competitiveness of the V8 Supercar Championship Series, with a tenth of a second often the difference between victory and defeat, Triple Eight set about building a team that could consistently run at the front of the field. Today 35 designers, engineers, suspension technicians, fabricators, machinists, mechanics, commercial managers and administration personnel work from the organisation's purpose built facility in Brisbane.

After establishing themselves in 2004 and learning the ins and outs of the category, Triple Eight moved to the forefront in 2005 with the signing of multiple champion Craig Lowndes. Lowndes' experience, coupled with Triple Eight's determination, proved a winning formula, and in just his first year with the team they claimed more pole positions, race and round victories in the year than any other team, and would finish a close runner-up.

Jamie Whincup impressed on debut with the team, winning the opening round of the 2006 series in Adelaide. Whincup and Lowndes formed a strong combination on track, and went on to win the Bathurst 1000 in both 2006 and 2007. Lowndes maintained his strong run in the championship, finishing runner-up again in 2006.

Whincup blasted from the blocks in 2007 and used consistency and speed to put himself in a position to grab what would have been a fairytale maiden V8 Supercar championship. Rival racer and former teammate Garth Tander prevailed, by a margin of just 2 points.

In 2008, Lowndes and Whincup look set to maintain this winning momentum and once again head into the series as hot title favourites. Triple Eight enters its second season in partnership with global telecommunications company Vodafone, and continues to enjoy the support of Ford, Dexion and Toshiba. It also welcomes new partners Nokia and Komatsu.
